WorldMood

WorldMood is a real-time map of how the world is feeling right now. Anyone can drop their current mood through a Telegram bot and watch it appear on a dark, minimal world map alongside everyone else's.

🌍The idea

I wanted to see what the planet feels like at any given moment — not curated, not filtered, just raw. WorldMood is a tiny window into that: one emoji per person, one pin on the map, no accounts, no noise. The concept is simple: strip away algorithms, timelines, and comment sections. What's left is a pure emotional pulse of the planet — thousands of people anonymously sharing how they feel, visualized on a single dark map. No profiles, no likes, no followers. Just feelings, pinned to geography.

💬How it works

You open the Telegram bot, send how you're feeling, and your mood drops as an emoji on a dark Carto basemap — geolocated to your country. A live counter at the top shows how many moods have been dropped today. The flow is frictionless by design — no sign-up, no app to download. You message the bot, pick an emoji that matches your vibe, and within seconds it appears on the map for everyone to see. The map updates in real time, so you can watch moods roll in from across the globe as they happen. There's something meditative about it — seeing joy pop up in Tokyo while sadness glows in São Paulo.

🎨Tech & design

Dark minimal map UI, real-time updates, and a Telegram bot wired to a small backend. Built with modern web tools and AI-assisted development. The whole thing is intentionally quiet — the map does the talking. The visual language is deliberately restrained — a near-black basemap with soft emoji pins that glow subtly against the dark canvas. Typography is minimal, the interface chrome is almost invisible, and the focus stays entirely on the data. Under the hood, mood submissions flow through a lightweight API into a database, then get pushed to connected clients via real-time subscriptions. The entire stack was built and iterated on rapidly using AI-assisted development, proving that a meaningful product can go from idea to live in days, not months.
